For achieving a near-perfect paint correction, the process matters far more than simply chasing gloss. It’s about removing defects safely while preserving as much clear coat as possible.

• Thorough preparation — safe wash, chemical decontamination and clay treatment where required. The paint needs to be completely clean before polishing begins.
• Paint inspection — assess the condition under dedicated detailing lighting, identifying swirls, scratches, oxidation, sanding marks, etching and previous repair work.
• Paint-depth measurements — check the paint across each panel before correction. This helps determine how aggressively an area can safely be worked.
• Test section first — start with the least aggressive combination of machine, pad and compound that achieves the required level of correction.
• Multi-stage machine polishing — heavier defects may require cutting, followed by refining and finishing stages. Different machines, pads and compounds can be used depending on the panel and defect.
